Following the requirements specified by current guidelines for the Cinque Terre DOC wines (DOC = Certified Appellation of Origin), our white wines and Sciacchetrà are mainly produced by combining three local grape varieties called BOSCO, ALBAROLA and VERMENTINO, some of them in the old forms still present in some of our vineyards (PICCABUN, BRUGIAPAGIA). The Italian wine making guidelines do not establish a specific Appellation of Origin for Cinque Terre’s red wine, but it was also traditionally made in the area for family use, so we have chosen to produce ours with a combination of REFOSCO (similar to the old local variety GAMBU RUSSU), MERLOT, CABERNET SAUVIGNON and SYRAH.
